TAPS: Therapeutic Activation Program for Seniors

About TAPS

TAPS is a partnership between Valley Community Services and the Creston community. TAPS provides seniors with an opportunity to come together, participate in community activities, connect, support each other and take pleasure in life.

Approximately 60 men and women attend weekly. Their average age is 83 years.

TAPS operates under the auspices of Valley Community Services. Their support is essential to the operation of the program.

In 2005, when the continuation of the TAPS program was at risk of closing, community volunteers championed the cause and VCS took TAPS under their wing. Little did everyone know how perfect the partnership would be over all the years since in serving the needs of vulnerable seniors in our community at risk of being isolated.

We are grateful for the funders who have responded to our applications. The VCS Board, Administration and TAPS recognize the challenges for sustainability as an organization. We are proactive in our financial management, long term planning and advocacy. VCS insures 85% of funding goes directly to TAPS Programs.
