NEW!! Therapeutic Activation Program for Seniors (TAPS) Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:   This is a unique opportunity to lead a program that makes a difference in the lives of seniors. The TAPS activity program provides social, emotional, physical and recreational support for older adults at risk of isolation.   This sole charge position is responsible for all aspects of TAPS program delivery.  This position is responsible for data collection, reporting, management of staff and facility.

WAGE:  $28.00/hour DOE for 32 hours/week, 4 days per week, Permanent

START DATE: September 9, 2024

QUALIFICATIONS:  The successful applicant will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Occupational Therapy or related field and two years recent experience or a combination of related education and experience. Graduation from a recognized geriatric recreation coordinator program an asset. As per funding requirements all applicants must be vaccinated for COVID 19.

POSITION SUMMARY:   Valley Community Services Society is a dynamic, multi service agency. We provide trauma-informed service for a variety of individuals and families. VCS provides a flexible, person-centered employment experience for staff who work as part of a collaborative team with onsite individual clinical supervision and support. We have one position available providing 25-30 hours per week of in-office and outreach mental health support to children, youth, adults and families.

WAGE:  $31.00-35.00/hour dependent upon experience and education and includes extended health benefits and 5% employer contribution to retirement savings after probation period.

POSITION SUMMARY:   Provide coordination services including crisis response, safety planning, emotional support and referrals to assist participants (of all ages) in addressing the impacts of sexual assault.  Additionally, provide guidance to support improved communication skills, household management skills, independent living/life skills, coping skills and social/regulation skills and parenting education to support participants and families to function to their highest capacity.  

WAGE:  $28.50 per hour; up to 30 hours per week

QUALIFICATIONS:   

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field preferred

  • Experience providing support services to individuals and families with trauma histories

  • Training in trauma informed care, impacts of sexual assault, cultural sensitivity, child/adolescent development, collaborative problem solving preferred

  • Knowledge of Criminal Justice System preferred

  • Current Criminal Records Check

  • BC Driver’s license and abstract

 Seniors'  Services Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY: The Seniors Services Supervisor supports program coordinators and their programs to provide quality service. This position provides guidance and support to staff, assists with management and administration of seniors programs, liaises with community partners and supports information dissemination regarding programming.

 

WAGE: $27-30.00/hour; 10-15 hours/week

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field or relevant experience

  • Experience supporting seniors

  • Conflict resolution education or equivalent experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a managerial role

  • Good working knowledge of Excel

  • Current Criminal Record Check

  • BC Driver’s license and abstract

  • Reliable vehicle

  • Must be vaccinated
