Practicum Placements for Master’s Students
 

At Valley Community Services, we are committed to helping train the next generation of counsellors by providing meaningful, hands-on practicum opportunities in a supportive, professional environment. We recognize that practicum experiences are foundational to developing confident, skilled, and compassionate practitioners, and we are proud to contribute to the growth of emerging professionals.

 

A Supportive, Real-World Learning Environment
 

Our practicum students gain valuable face-to-face counselling experience working with adult participants in a community-based setting. Students are welcomed as members of our team and supported throughout their placement with:
 

• Individual onsite clinical supervision

• Regular feedback to support professional growth and skill development

• Exposure to ethical, trauma-informed, and client-centered counselling practices

• Integration into a collaborative, supportive team environment
   

We strive to create a learning experience that balances hands-on practice with mentorship, reflection, and skill-building.

 

Who Should Apply
 

We welcome applications from students who are currently enrolled in:
 

• A Master’s Degree in Counselling, Clinical Psychology, or a related counselling field

• A Master of Social Work (MSW) program*
   

Practicum students should demonstrate professionalism, readiness for clinical work, and a strong commitment to ethical, client-centered care.
 

*Social Work students must have previous counselling experience and/or be working toward a clinically relevant degree focus.
